Review of Eyelash Extensions

Most women would love to have naturally long and thick eyelashes all the time. Mascara helps, but what if you could have them without even wearing it? With eyelash extensions you can! All the celebrities have had them for years and I was very excited when I was given the opportunity to get them. They say the eyes are the windows to the soul and what better way to frame them than with luscious lashes!?

After lying down on the bed, my eyelashes were examined with an ultra bright light and special glasses. I was told that I was a "good candidate" for the extensions (relief!). Small sheets of plastic were then placed over my bottom eyelashes and my eyes were closed over this. I was told that this was to prevent the glue from the top lashes sticking to the bottom lashes – heaven forbid!

My eyes didn't seem to welcome this much, and their natural physiological process of evicting foreign objects and substances began… They were working overtime, twitching and watering, to try and 'push' the plastic out. This however is not the norm! I do have sensitive eyes and as a result my eyes were more 'hyperactive' and troublesome than most. I was told to relax, and try and focus on keeping my eye muscles still. Easier said than done but I tried my best!

Then the intricate process of individually gluing each eyelash extension onto my natural eyelashes began. This I was told would feel like a "tiny ant going across my eyelids". I could hardly feel this process being done at all apart from a slight tickle. My eyes must have been aware of it though because they were still being difficult and twitching! The whole process takes over an hour but goes by quite quickly. I was told that some girls are so relaxed they even fall asleep while it's getting done. My eyes would not allow me that luxury though!

By this stage I was eagerly awaiting the unveiling of my new and improved lashes. Particularly after hearing stories of women meeting their boyfriends at nightclubs and getting let off by the cops for road misdemeanors after getting them done – with the help of some "batting" and "fluttering".

Then the moment of truth arrived. After the glue was dried off a bit with a fan, I was instructed to open my eyes. My left eye opened without a hitch but the right was not so lucky. Some of the corners of my lower eyelashes had stuck to the glue on the top lashes, thanks to my naughty eye pushing the plastic (whose purpose was to prevent this happening) out. They were easily separated however as the glue had not properly dried. With the help of some eye drops, my eyes felt normal again.

I was then able to admire Karen's work – the mirror in front of me reflected soft, natural looking long lashes that really opened up my eyes, making them look bigger. I guess I can say bye to mascara for a couple of months! The reason they look so good is because when done properly, they follow your eyelashes' natural line so basically just complement, extend and thicken what you already have. Every girl's dream! And most importantly, they feel natural and comfortable. I've already received so many compliments and my eyes don't feel like they're being invaded by tiny ants anymore – it was all worth it!
