DESCRIPTION: Imagine children cooking well balanced delcious meals the whole family would love! We educate children to cook intelligently and gain knowledge which increases their confidence in the kitchen.
The extremely popular and enthusiastically attended Real Cooking for Kids classes run during school holidays. You will love it when the children cook you dinner!
Boys and girls, 8yrs to 14yrs attend 90 minute classes that are designed to hold their attention with much conversation, smelling, feeling and hands-on opportunities. They also consume the fruits of their labour, which is an integral part and many children try new flavours and often discover something they thought they didn’t like is not only edible, but is actually quite delicious.
We discuss flavours and textures; how the tastebuds work in their mouths and how they grow as the children do and start to enjoy different foods. We talk in terms of bitter, sour, sweet, salty and spicy and what the taste reminds them of.
The team designs recipes for the children to cross boundaries between balanced nutritional dishes as well as fun yummy stuff. Let’s face it we all like a treat sometimes! The aim is to give children information and skills to learn how to cook ...really cook.
We have had mum’s coming back in after classes saying their children cooked dinner and they sat around the table to eat it as a family. We have had dad's coming in to the store to see where their children have learnt all this great cooking and grandparents saying they have also enjoyed the creations of their grandchildren in the kitchen! Many children attend on a regular basis and are building a growing resource of their own recipes as well being able to prepare recipes from cookbooks using methods and techniques they learn in class.
We encourage parents/carers to attend and sit in on the class in the background, enjoy a free cup of coffee or tea and watch the childrens enthusiasm!

DURATION: All classes run for 90 minutes. Choose from 10.30am or 12.30pm start.
