DESCRIPTION: See the vast Blue Mountains, Katoomba and the 3 sisters up close from the air.
Flying west from Bankstown, we pass the Penrith lakes area as we climb towards the Blue Mountains you may notice a blue tinge that the range takes on when viewed from a distance. We fly over the Blue Mountains, where the highest point of the range is 1,190 metres above sea level, and is dissected by gorges of up to 760 metres deep.
The flight takes us all the way to Katoomba and the famous multi facetted mountains of the three sisters (so called after an Indigenous Australian Dreamtime legend of the Three Sisters is that three sisters fell in love with three men from a neighbouring tribe, but marriage was forbidden by tribal law. Battle ensued, and the sisters were turned to stone by an elder to protect them, but he was killed in the fighting and no one else could turn them back.!).
We orbit these famous mountains for photos before returning back across the ranges.
