DESCRIPTION: Learn to climb sheer cliffs in the Blue Mountains, with grades up to 17. Basic techniques will be learned, allowing for more fun climbing later. Learn to climb under the instruction of your accredited guide. This one day course will have you up the sheer walls in no time.
Suitable for people with little or no previous experience, this is one of the very best beginners rockclimbing courses available anywhere, In a single day, you will learn basic movement on rock (including the correct way to use your feet, balance and weight transfer, edging, smearing and use of sideholds and layways), ropehandling, belay techniques, rock features and climbing calls.
Over the course of the day you will complete several easy climbs (grades 7 to 14) as well as getting the opportunity to experience a more difficult ascent. We usually do a variety of climbs such as walls, cracks and corners ranging in height from 10 to 22 metres. All the climbs we choose are high quality classics that have stood the test of time.
At the end of the day you will have mastered the basic skill and techniques for safe, enjoyable climbing. This will enable you to competently climb with experienced leaders up moderately graded climbs.
